  • Under the conduct of President Donald Trump, the United States has announced its withdrawal from United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) due to its political biasness.
  • The US has blamed the organization as mockery of human rights, as the latter is biased towards Israel and refusing to eject members who are violators of human rights.

  • The world’s first International Centre for Humanitarian Forensics (ICHF) recognized by University Grants Commission (UGC) under section 22 of UGC Act, 1956, is launched at Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
  • It is developed in collaboration of Gujarat Forensic Science University with International Committee of the Red Cross in India, Bhutan, Nepal and Maldives.
  • It is the world’s first and only University dedicated to Forensic and allied Sciences, which will conduct various academic and professional programmes for the same.

  • Canada has become the first G7 country to legalize recreational marijuana, as Canadian Parliament has given its consent for Cannabis Act (or Bill C-45).
  • As per the act, the minimum legal age to buy and consume the drug is 18 and an adult can consume upto 30 grams of dried cannabis in public.
  • It is illegal to grow more than four plants per household and to buy from unlicensed dealer
  • It becomes the second country worldwide to legalise the drug’s recreational use after Uruguay.

What is marijuana?

  • It is a psychoactive drug from the Cannabis plant intended for medical or recreational use.
  • It used for controlling pain for medical issues, like cancer, nervous system diseases, glaucoma, migraines, etc and also used to treat nausea and improve appetites for people with HIV or other chronic illnesses.
