  • The introductory Maharashtra Protection of Internal Security Act (MPISA), 2016 is setting up Special Security Zones (SSZ) where movement of arms, explosives and inflow of unaccounted funds will be prohibited.
  • With this, Maharashtra became the nation’s first state to draft its own internal security act.
  • The act seeks to tackle terrorism, insurgency, communalism and caste violence.
